It started out as a feeling

Which then grew into a hope

Which then turned into a quiet thought

Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder

'Til it was a battle cry

I'll come back

When you call me

No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing

Doesn't mean it's never

Been this way before

All you can do is try to know

Who your friends are

As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon

And follow the light

You'll come back

When it's over

No need to say good bye

Now we're back to the beginning

It's just a feeling that no one knows yet

But just because they can't feel it too

Doesn't mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger ans stronger

'Til they're before your eyes

You'll come back

When they call you

No need to say good bye

Long Long time ago, I had a dream
Today, I do not exactly remember it
But I think 'twasn't something sweet

Now as i try and recall what i saw
Not too sure, as my memory reeled
Was i killing or getting killed

At first, I was born naked,

One headed, two legged

As a child I was sweet

For I ate lots of it.

Then I grew in all ways

Feeling lonely always.

Ok... another of the blogs written without purpose and punctuality... and punctuation as well .. but hell .. then i think like this.. so should i write...

what have i been upto.. nothing much... travelling to a few places for work.. mainly Jordan ... anyways.. nothing much to write about them except that the list of countries i have been to include UAE, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait besides  Bahrain... but then as i said no big deal about them...

coming to useless things.. i recently watched a movie.. the Darjeeling Limited besides having a pretty decent star cast... the movie is somewhere between a black comedy and an art film... although things like the train itself and the setting in India appears to be unrealistic but it's a nice movie to watch... unfortunately my movie reviews are not lucid like my fren Mhatre who has time and again proved his prowess at this.. his recent take on JA is worth a read...

And just for luddites.... i suggest exploring 'torrents' for downloading stuff. esp movies... for more on torrents try Wiki

I personally use microTorrent with mininova as the search engine.

Bahrain is good. The people are also nice. But when it comes to driving licence, this place is a nightmare.

First of all, your licence from India is useless. So you need to apply for a licence here like you have never been behind a wheel. Then comes the procedure..

Here is the procejure... First apply for a learner's licence. Go thru eye test...then get a date for a theory class (yes a theory class).. then go for a theory class. then find a teacher (they are as wanted people as girls on iimk campus)  who will teach u how to drive. then learn how to drive from this guy for like 18-20 hrs... then apply for a test.. then take the test.. and finally pass the test...

the probablity of failing the test is as good as Dr. Saji giving one of those smiles in the class... and u will understand the pain of the process in the fact that the place to do all this is some good 10 kms from the city... and you need to get a cab everytime which is some 600 bucks for each time... And it costs arnd 10k INR atleast.. officially to get the thing...

And just to prove how the process is jinxed.. i have already been there twice and they have rejected my application for learner's licence.. this is like the first step of the process and i have alreayd been sent back twice.. to think that i have some 3 hrs travelling and some 1200 bucks already on taxi fare is just hard to bear.. this on top of the fact that finding a teacher and passing the test is some long long time away...

There are times like this wen u feel our good ol india was so nice.. worse comes to worse you pay some bribe and work gets done.. you dont have to go thru the hassle .. but in a foreign land ... people harass you on some things just trying to take it back from you coz maybe you are doing a job they cannot just do... like this time they rejected my application coz the grammar of the letter was not correct... think abt that...

but dun worry folks..the day i get my licence.. i will have my last laugh...

Basmati Rice in Indian herbs and spices served with red grapes. Boiled veggies in chilli mayo and cheese served with dried apricots.. and yea the orange juice...

I blog once again.

This time to update and record the fact that I'm quitting UTI (Axis) bank and moving to Bahrain

Should be in India till the first week of September and then some time off and then I move to tax-free land..

It's interesting, the amount of tax we the salaried class pay in india... i was forced to think that we pay so much to the govt earned from hard work that shouldn't we be termed "freedom fighters"/"martyrs"/"patriots"

Anyways... i am moving to a small risk consulting company called AFS. With Sidd, Bala and Meta already in Dubai.. and patheja joining me in Bahrain in all probablity, i guess I would be the fifthperson from the batch of pgp iimk 2005 to be working in middle east..

Catch ya folks...

Althugh i was to move on with this journal.. also life...

but somehow.. things drag... comin back to my observation... 'the most difficult and the most easy thing in life is change'.

Your Brain's Pattern

Your mind is an incubator for good ideas, it just takes a while for them to develop.
But when you think of something, watch out!
Your thoughts tend to be huge, and they come on quickly - like an explosion.
You tend to be quiet around others, unless you're inspired by your next big idea.

Everyone's eyeing everyone..
Whoz the Father, whoz the son.
Reduce the competition to a few
Grab it before it grabs you.

The above lines are my own. Not polished i know, but somehow i am amazed by what's happening in the corporate world.

Every company in the world seems to be either in the process of grabbing or being grabbed. somehow i remember the ad of pan parag (if i remember), where the target guy after hearing the price, eats pan parag and goes ahead and buys out the acquirer.

Tata/CSN battle is something almost boring. Read some interesting and new ones like:-

Quantas http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/2/hi/business/6174611.stm
Lastminute (irnoy!) http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/2/hi/business/6174465.stm
Barclays/Bank AM http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/business/stories.nsf/0/1A78E6C95F8FEFB68625723F000BC01D?OpenDocument
LSE/Nasdaq http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/2/hi/business/6171223.stm

It like you wake up everyday and ask which company am i working for...

Anyways... I have shifted focus (or let's say allocated some of it) to credit derivatives and structured finance. As that is something growing exponentially. Along with my friend Dinesh we are planning to start a blog, yahoogroup and some forums for it in India.

My blogs will shift from livejournal to blogspot http://creditderivativesrisk.blogspot.com/

My blog is grabbed!

We have grown up... and somehow lost the appreciation of festivals... As a kid we used to be so much enthu about Holi, Diwali, Utran (kite flying -14th Jan) et al... But now... all seems lost... too big to enjoy the small small things.. Anyways lemme try and recall a few thigns about diwali that i miss the most....

1) Bursting crackers even 10 days in advance, especially in the evenings and sometimes even in the afternoon and getting buzzed off for disturbing people.
2) Personal R&D on bombs and other fireworks. Opening some of them and collecting the 'barud'. Especially opening the red mirchi ladi bombs and bursting them one by one.
3) Strategic bursting of bombs- keeping them under containers, objects and garbage bins. Basically blasting things.. and see the smoke come out after it... cooooooooollllllll

I am too nostalgic.. cant go further.. people add in your points as comments...

HAPPY DIWALI

No computers, no calls.
Wohi chai ki pyali
Wohi mu pe gali

Laut aao ab

Having been tagged by people above, here I go:

I am thinking...
Who would have created and started this...

I said...
What you heard...

I want...
to be satisfied...

I wish...
my want was fulfilled immediately...

I miss...
my innocence and ignorance

I hear...
for I am not deaf...

I wonder...
who is the happiest person on this earth and why

I regret...
not knowing what to do and what not to do

I am...
I was and I will be.

I dance...
when drunk. and boy! i do then :-)

I sing...
the national anthem whenever i hear it

I cry...
when i see the poor and the suffering

I am not...
a loser.

I write...
coz that's my right

I confuse...
people.

I need...
what i deserve.

I should...
find out what i want in life

I finish...
What i start... like this entry.

Recently came across a Paki song called 'Mahia' by Annie. It's just godly. The lyrics are good and the song is just amazing.

Bhagte dodte log
Thamii hui zindagi
Hath mai cigarette
Mu mai paan
Welcome to mumbai meri jaan

Sab ko jaldi
Office ho ya ghar
Train mai jeete log
Train mai marte insaan
Welcome to mumbai meri jaan

Pach rupiye ki pani puri
Chowpatty pe aaram
Ek shaam Sunday ki
Phir Monday se kaam
Welcome to mumbai meri jaan
